CCTV Survey – using technology to solve your drainage problems
Just need a CCTV Survey?
You may be moving house and want to verify the condition of the new drains, or planning improvements to the property which depend on the suitability of the existing drains. Either way, our contractors are available to do CCTV Surveys independent of our Drain Unblock and Claims Handling services. Just call us to discuss your needs.
The fee for a CCTV Survey and Report starts from £185 + VAT (£222 inc VAT), although once we understand the scope of the required survey we can provide you with a CCTV Survey quotation.
Need a CCTV Survey as part of a Drain Unblock?
If we have undertaken a ‘look see’ CCTV Inspection, you may find that you have cover by your building insurance for the damage found in the inspection. At that point you can if appropriate instruct us to handle the claim for you. We will then carry out a CCTV Survey and Report which will be forwarded to your insurance company as part of our Claims Handling service. From the survey report we can see exactly what’s wrong, and work out the simplest, quickest and most cost-effective way to put right any structural problems. This helps avoid the cost and disruption of digging to find a problem.
We use information from our no-obligation survey in our report to your insurance company. Then we’ll deal with the insurance company for you, allocate a local contractor to do the repair work, and get your claim paid.

Who are Happy Drains?
Practical know-how: Happy Drains was set up by a team of experienced business people and drain specialists. Drawing on more than 25 years’ practical experience in the drainage, sewage clearing and repair business, Happy Drains’s experts provide a professional service to householders, businesses and insurers.
Covering the UK: Our call centre is based in the UK and staffed by a team of specialists who will understand your problem. Please Contact us if you have any questions.
When you call Happy Drains about your drain or sewer problem, we can tell you the standard fee for unblocking or resolving your immediate emergency. If you’ve used our Drain Unblock service, this includes a free CCTV Inspection to determine if any damage exists.
If damage is apparent from the CCTV Inspection, and we believe the problem to be an ‘insured peril’, and you are covered by your insurance company for accidental damage, the next step is a CCTV Survey. We then manage your claim for you on a no win, no fee basis.
If you are insured for accidental damage and you authorise Happy Drains to manage the claim for you, in most cases you have nothing to pay (apart from any insurance excess you may have).
If you are not able to make a claim, you can choose to use Happy Drains’s contractors to carry out the repairs and pay for it yourself (we’ll agree a cost with you at the start). Or you can decide to have no repairs and pay only for the initial unblocking and CCTV Survey.
What is ‘accidental damage’?
These are typical problems likely to be covered under accidental damage insurance:
- Drains and Soakaways may suffer fractures from tree roots, ground movement, vehicle activity (traffic on a driveway, for example) or other pressure problems that cause ‘bellying’ and cracking of drains
- Cesspits and Septic Tanks can suffer cracks, leaks and collapses for many reasons, including tree roots, ground movement and vehicle activity
- Toilets and Drainage Inside the House can become blocked because of cracks and fractures caused by movement.
What might NOT be considered accidental damage?
- A blockage caused by flushing insoluble items like nappies and wet-wipes down the toilet
- Problems caused by vermin
- Damage caused by poor workmanship or faulty design
- Damage caused by wear and tear or gradual deterioration.
