3 Top Tips for Pleasant Smelling Drains

Problems occurring within drains can be instantly noticed by one of the first signs; a foul odour.  Though pipes can remain blockage free and appear fine, the issue can be hidden internally, often growing into a larger, more costly problem if left unattended. Thankfully, harsh chemicals are not needed in order to get rid of odours, and instead we can work to prevent bad smells before they even arrive.

Use Baking Soda!

Many of our previous blogs state how good baking soda can be for your drains. A single cup of baking soda is all that is needed in order to refresh your drain and banish any nasty smells from reappearing. Pour the baking soda down the drain and let it sit for around 20 minutes, then boil a kettle and pour it into your sink to help flush down the baking soda. The combination of baking soda and hot water will help to clean the pipes in your drain and further down too!

White Vinegar helps too

One of the most famous home remedies for foul smelling drains, white vinegar can help clear your drains the same way baking soda can. We’d advise leaving white vinegar down the drain to settle for around an hour before flushing it with boiling water. You can repeat this until you feel satisfied without worry of harming your drains and pipes- it’s completely safe and you’ll find any bad smells are gone in no time.
