Dealing with issues in private drains

So, you think you’ve got an issue in your private drain?

Firstly, let’s check it is a private drain.

Private drains are owned by the owner of the property and these need to be maintained by that owner.

Public drains are the responsibility of the water company, and these drains will sit outside of any property boundaries (such as on pavements and highways).

If when reading that you’re still not sure, you can easily find out by calling your water supplier. They’ll let you know the drain in question is private and can also tell you if the issue is a sole problem with your side of things or something which is being caused by a wider issue within a public drain.

If, like you suspect, they let you know that it is an issue within your drain, you’ll need to get this sorted. And this is where we can help.

As above, a private drain needs to be maintained and managed by the property owner. So, if that’s you, it’s your responsibility to pay for any repairs or maintenance.

We offer a CCTV survey to give you all the information you need about a drain issue, so you can make a well-informed decision regarding a faulty drain. We’ll be able to prepare a formal, detailed CCTV report for you that outlines our findings meaning you can make the decision best for you – you can even send on our report to insurance companies if needed.

Then it’s onto the repair. We can go through your options and help with any decision making – and of course carry out any work that needs doing.
