The warmer weather is on its way, and soon the clocks will be going forward, and we’ll be heading into Spring and Summer. It’s a great time to get outdoors and sort your drains, so here are a few things you can do to get your drains Spring ready!
Perform Some Checks
Autumn and Winter may have left your drains in a bit of a state, so now is a great time to give them some love. Get outdoors and remove any leaves, debris and anything which has accumulated through the colder months. You might spot lots of sludge around your outdoor too, this is usually caused by mulching leaves and moss. Use a pressure washer to blast any sludge away leaving the entry to your drains free of rubbish. It is also a good idea to look out for any cracks or damage to pipes caused by winter freezing, and if you spot anything, replace the pipes before any further damage occurs.
Stop Problems Heating Up
The temperature increasing is always a good thing, but not for smelly drains! If you’ve got a blockage, the warmer temperatures can cause stinky issues, so make sure your drains are cleaned out so they’re not a breeding ground for bacteria in the warmer weather.
Don’t Let Roots Be A Problem
Plants come to life in the Spring, so check around your drains for any plant roots which might be coming into contact with your pipes. Roots can cause cracks and blockages, so asses these now to avoid problems later on in Spring/Summer.
