Spring Drain Maintenance

Spring is here and we know you’re itching to get outdoors, spend time with friends and family and get that BBQ out. We also know that last thing on your mind is probably your drains, but spring is a great time to check for any issues ahead of all that summer fun.

Post winter checks

After autumn and winter your drains might be a little worse for wear, so show them some love and clean them out for summer. Removing leaves, debris and sludge brought on by the colder months will mean your drains are ready and raring to go all summer long. Plus, make sure to look out for any cracks or damage to pipes caused by winter freezing, and if you spot anything, replace the pipes now before there any further damage can occur.

Don’t let your problems heat up!

Now we might love the lighter days and the warmer weather, but with the temperature hotting up, the rise in temperature can cause you some stinky issues! Any blockages in your drains can get smellier as it gets warmer. The hotter temperatures make a great breeding ground for bacteria so getting any issues like this sorted now will make sure you’re not boosting blockages and fighting smells in the summer sun.

Find the root of a problem

Spring is also the time where the plants come alive, so it’s a great time to check on any roots which maybe spreading towards your drains or encroaching into them. Getting to the ‘root’ of the problem now will save you time and money down the track, as roots can crack your pipes causing leaks as well as blockages.
