Summer of 2019, come on now hands up. Who else was crossing off the dates on the calendar looking forward to getting in the garden and topping up the suntan? Yeah us too, but in typical London and British style, this summer has been a washout with rainfall battering us day and night for most of it so far this year. Not ideal.
With heavy rain comes potential serious blockage of our drainage systems, with all sorts of debris getting in the way and causing endless problems to our exterior drains. It’s pretty easy to identify you have an issue internally. An obvious indication that a drain is blocked is a slow running sink or toilet. Sometimes the toilet overfill or even appear to have been sucked out the pan. That is a vacuum caused by a blocked drain downstream of the toilet. Water seepage in the yard or garden is also a likely indication.
What next?
If you have spotted your drainage system is blocked, don’t ignore it. We strongly advise against doing that, as this will only cause long term problems to your property and surrounding grounds and that lovely garden you have will become an underwater sewage pond if left unattended. We’ve seen it with our own eyes, and it doesn’t look and smell pretty.
Here at Happy Drains, we are here to save the day and your pockets. Many of our competitors in London and the UK add a number of extra charges for fixing blocked drains. Not Happy Drains. We charge a fixed fee of £90 + VAT for a residential dwelling and if you are living in an apartment or flats our prices start from £125+VAT depending on the complexities of the job at hand.
If your property is shared or beyond the property boundary then it’s probably the responsibility of Thames or Southern Water. If you’re unsure, our dedicated team are at hand to answer all your questions. You can email us on service@happydrains.co.uk or call us on 0800 849 8099.
